The Angel League is a baseball program for special needs boys and girls ages 4 to 15. We have T-ball for the small fry and coach pitch for the more advanced players. The rules have been adapted so that we have no strikes, no outs and every child scores with every hit, even if the ball goes 10 or 100 feet. We do not keep score, so our teams are undefeated!!! Any child with disabilities may play, even if siblings or youth from our local high schools need to assist them in hitting and getting around the field. Walkers, wheel chairs, and mobility problems are not an issue.
The Kiwanis Club of Rockwall County owns this team and provides free of charge uniforms and gloves. Parents coach the teams. The City of Rockwall Parks Department provides the baseball fields and all equipment. Local businesses provide us with free season end trophies and professional photography (team and individual pictures). Any additional needs are provided by the Kiwanis Club.
We play a 9 week season each spring and 8 week season each fall with an awards ceremony at the conclusion of each season. The entire program is provided at no-cost to the parents.
A team can be started for very little cost and it is up to each community to determine the additional features they would include in this program. We have found that community support for many of our needs was easily acquired once the story of the Angels was broadcast, reducing our club’s cost.
For additional information on how your community can benefit from starting an Angel League Team, please email us at angels@angelleague.org or call 972 722 6001 and leave your name and number.
Angel League Baseball Program celebrates who your child is, not what he isn’t.
